“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Emmanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” Matthew 1:23.

“Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

Immanuel,  which means “God is with us”

This is really a beautiful statement from God to all of us. When you think of God’s presence, you feel that you are abundantly blessed by God.

We wish that all need that great blessings of God’s presence in us that is “God is with us”.

God is with us  or God is with me?

Once I met an old woman of 65 who said like this. ” I am not an educated person and I do not know much about bible. I  know little of God’s Words in the bible. I do not know whether God is with us or not, but one thing I am sure that God is with me.

When you say “God is with us”, you say it in general and you don’t mean and feel  that God is with you. Everybody says it so you too.

When she said “God is with me”, she did not say it in general  but she really felt God’s presence in her heart.

And again I got a chance to visit her house.  She is alone at her old age of 65 and for my surprise I could see nothing at her small old house except few basic things. Then I asked “That day you told me  that God is with you, but nothing here at your home, I could not see God’s blessing in your home.” Then she said that “God is not  here or there, God is not in the building of my house, God is not in money and God is not in goods that I have in my home. I feel and I am sure that  God is in my heart, if God does not live in my heart then what is the use of God’s presence in other things of my wealth.?”

She was so strong in her experience to say that God is with me, because she experienced God’s presence in her heart.

Experience “God is with us” in prayer.

“God is with us” is not a statement to say when ever I think of it. “God is with us” is God’s promises to all who are willing to feel it in their hearts. You can only feel it and experience it in your heart through communication of prayer.

Prayer is an essential instrument to experience God’s presence in your heart. The one who prays always, never say “God is with us” instead of that, he or she says that “God is with me”, which shows a deeper personal relationship with God. If you are a person who do not pray always, and then if you say “God is with us”, it doesn’t mean anything neither to you or to others.

That old woman told me that “I spend most of the time of a day in prayer and whenever I pray, I always hear his voice in my heart, saying that “I am with you always”.

Martin Luther King Jr.

In late January 1956, Martin Luther King Jr. received a threatening phone call at his house. It was not the first foreboding message he had received. But on this night as his children and wife lay sleeping, the weight of the civil rights movement was too heavy. He decided that the risk was too great. He began to map out an exit strategy. At midnight he bowed over the kitchen table and began to pray, “I am afraid. The people are looking to me for leadership, and if I stand before them without strength and courage, they too will falter. I am at the end of my powers. I have nothing left. I’ve come to the point where I can’t face it alone.”

King described what happened next. “I experienced the presence of the Divine as I had never experienced Him before. It seemed as though I could hear the quiet assurance of an inner voice saying: ‘Stand up for righteousness, stand up for truth; and God will be at your side forever.’” When facing a daunting challenge, King shifted his focus and turned to God.

In prayer and through prayer you listen to his voice and God never fails to answer to you. He will say that “I am with you always.”

If you don’t pray then it means that you have no time for God to listen his voice of blessings that “I am with you always.”

Even now, it is not too  late to make a decision to kneel down before God to pray and to hear his voice of blessings that is “I am with you always”
